Alvaro Perez took the reins of the Waubonsee's program as Interim Head Coach midway through the 2025 season. He led the Chiefs to a 5-3 mark to close out the year with the offense scoring 27 goals over that span. Perez served as the Chiefs' lead Assistant Coach for the five previous season, developing a strong relationship with local high school to recruit and develop talent. He was a key performer for Waubonsee during the 2012 and 2013 seasons, helping the Chiefs go a combined 34-5-1 overall as a player. He brings that winning pedigree to the Chiefs' sidelines looking to help guide current players to similar success. "My primary focus will be to help young men succeed on and off the field," states Perez. "And continue to work with the top local clubs."
Perez was a starting midfielder at Aurora West High School before graduating in the Spring of 2012. Later that Fall he helped the Chiefs go 16-3-1 overall, and scored the game-winning goal as Waubonsee clinched the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) title for the first time ever with a 2-1 win over Oakton. Perez was named to the All-ISCC Second Team that season as the Chiefs went 6-0-1 in ISCC play. The following year he was again selected All-ISCC Second Team as he helped the 8th-ranked Chiefs to an 18-2 record, an undefeated (7-0) ISCC championship, and a Region IV title. Perez went on to play at the semi-professional level for the Aurora Borealis S.C. in 2017 and 2018 before an injury ended his playing career.
Coach Perez started out as a Volunteer Assistant Coach in the Aurora Township League in 2013, earning a U.S. Soccer Coaching Federation E License in 2015. He then joined the Chicago Inferno as an Assistant Coach that same year, helping train their U-12 squad that went on to win the 2016 Danone Nations USA Cup and later competed for the Danone Nations World Cup in France. From 2017 to 2020 Coach Perez was an Assistant Coach for the Eclipse Select S.C. organization. During his time there he helped the U-13 team win the 2019 Boys Super Group National Cup and the U-15 crew reach the 2019 Boys Group National Cup title match. Perez also had a hand in six other teams winning championships including the U-11 team capturing the 2019 IMG Boys Invitational Cup, and the U-12 boys squad earning the 2020 Las Vegas Invitational title. Several players from Coach Perez's time with the Inferno and Eclipse programs have gone on to play at the NCAA Division I and Division II, and for MLS Academies and the Mexican Youth National Team.
