(Charlotte, NC) - Waubonsee Community College's Janiece Thomas was selected the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The 6'0" sophomore forward averaged a double-double, scoring 22.0 points and grabbing 11.7 rebounds per game over the course of three games during the week of February 1st through the 7th. The Metea Valley High School product also averaged 4.3 assists, 2.7 steals, 2.7 blocked shots, shot 54.3 percent from the floor, made six three-pointers and shot 82 percent (10 of 12) from the foul line. Thomas helped lead the Chiefs (19-4) to victory in all three games as Waubonsee blasted Elgin Community College 86-46 on February 1st, held off Moraine Valley Community College for a 90-83 triumph two days later, and went on the road to defeat Kankakee Community College 73-63 on February 5th. For the season Thomas is averaging 16.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per contest.
