Waubonsee Community College's Brooke Heiman is poised to join an exclusive club. The 5'9" sophomore guard scored 27 points in the Chiefs' 94-48 shellacking of Wright College on Saturday afternoon. In the process, the Indian Creek High School alumnus passed Mary Schruel's (1980-1982) mark of 968 career points to move into third on Waubonsee's all-time scoring list. The native of Compton, Illinois is only five points away from overtaking Amanda Wolf (1999-2001) for second on the list. Heiman is now just 21 points away from joining Julianna Wadsworth (2014-2016) in the Chiefs' 1000-Point Club for her Waubonsee career. Wadsworth, a two-time NJCAA All-American, finished with 1,211 points in a Chiefs uniform. Heiman will look to make it a 'party of two' this coming Tuesday, February 14 when Waubonsee hosts Prairie State College in an Illinois Skyway Collegiate Confernce (ISCC) match-up starting at 5:15 p.m. in Erickson Hall Gymnasium. The Chiefs (10-15, 5-5) and Pioneers (9-17, 4-6) previously faced each other in Chicago Heights on January 19 with Heiman booking 14 points in Waubonsee's 79-55 victory. On the season Heiman is averaging 20.1 points-per-game in 24 games she's played in. After Tuesday's contest, the Chiefs have four more regular season games remaining on their 2022-2023 schedule with the Region IV Division II Tournament beginning on February 28.
